COULD BARBARA PALVIN BE THE NEXT BOND GIRL?
The model has already dabbled in acting, having appeared in 2014’s remake of Hercules alongside Dwayne Johnson and Kellan Lutz.
“I love acting and would love to do it more,” Palvin told us. “It’s harder to go into acting as a model now than it ever was because so many models are doing the same thing. I want to do anything that’s challenging and not within my comfort zone, and a Bond girl is so different to who I am.
“Otherwise I’d love to play a Marvel character, a psycho or a loser who doesn’t work hard,” she says, laughing. “Anything where I don’t have to dress up like a baby doll.”
However, it’s Palvin’s doll-like features that have led to her success. Since the Hungarian-born beauty was first scouted at the age of 13 (although she didn’t start modeling until years after), she has walked for Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Prada, and has starred in numerous campaigns again for Chanel, but also for the beauty heavyweight L’Oréal. Her latest gig comes by way of Amazon Fashion, one of her shopping go-tos.
“They were looking for a strong woman with a lot of energy and I thought I’d be good at that,” she says. “Online shopping makes everything so much easier – it’s a bad habit of mine. I’m currently about to buy one of those Champion sweaters.”
Despite her catwalk successes, she recently admitted that she finds fashion shows difficult because she “doesn’t have the runway look”.
“It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, but I’m a perfectionist and there’s no guarantee you’ll be in the right shows,” she said. “When I first started out, I found it really hard to be rejected all the time. You invest in a casting, you prepare and get excited about it, then when I fail and don’t get it, it makes me question whether I should be a model.”
Whether Palvin is still unsure about her place in the industry or not, the fashion world are decided – her star is on the rise.
